The Presence of the “Back of Christ” in Key Largo Went Beyond Expectations.
From the early hours of the Christmas Day, visitors to the Chapel of “The Back of Christ” were arriving in order to be present during the inauguration of this center of praying, in occasion of the festivities of the Birthday of Christ.
The attendance of people that were coming to take part on this event increased considerably during and after lunch time, in which it was necessary to bring this very popular painting to the center of the gardens of the Thomas Fundora Art Studio, in order to make it possible to be exposed to all the ones that wanted to see it without having to go through the doors of the small chapel and a very long waiting line. The impressive amount of public and the small space of praying made it very easy to expect the unexpected, but very integrated vigil and a complete harmony made possible a very impressive exhibition of the painting.
The event took place in Key Largo, the first of a line of islands located in the south east of the United States Atlantic Coast and facing the Florida Bay, connected to each other by a two lane highway that reach Key West, located ninety miles from Cuba. This position make it very vulnerable to any kind of accident or incident that could break the most elemental concept of security in these islands. The authorities faced a very intense flowing of traffic that could alter the systems using a great amount of understanding and collaboration toward a religious event that almost went out of control.
The top instance happened when one of the attendants was addressing the public with a very intense and dramatic praying that created a very special atmosphere in which a very light winter rain crowned the event with a very spiritual frame, after which everybody initiated a very organized way out of the facilities and highway pressures. The rest was historic and unforgettable, since after a few and very valuable moments of faith and order, the area was totally free to the transit in these beautiful island of Florida, showing very easily that the path to the “Back of Christ” had been increasing constantly after that year of 1962, date in which it was created in the City of New York and kept growing very intense and properly organized by their Followers.
